Maybe there just aren't enough of us grown up collectors. Magazines probably try to appeal to proven markets. If they know they have an audience in a certain area, they will continue to sell to that market where they have expertise. Maybe they're afraid if they run AG articles all of their Barbie collectors will lose interest.
Another thought is that I've noticed a lot of doll mags tend to run articles about specific dolls that really seem like advertisements to me (not all the articles, but a significant percentage). Maybe there's a system whereby certain doll companies arange for the articles themselves. In that case, the AG branch of Mattel just hasn't been promoting itself to collector magazines. This would make sense as they have been notoriously ambivalent about grown up collectors in the past.
I think we have great resources for collectors now, if they know where to look, but it would be nice to have a magazine article with big glossy pictures and some exclusive info now and then.
